WeGe Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
WeGe is a native iOS and Android app for managing a shared household: recurring chores, availability, optional chore reminders, shared expenses and archived Kassensturz reports. This policy explains what information is processed and how to contact the developer about it.
Controller: Yiğit Arslan, Germany. For privacy questions or requests, email ygtars@ygtars.com.

At a glance
WeGe needs an account and an online backend to keep household information consistent across members and devices. It does not include advertising, advertising identifiers, cross-app tracking, engagement analytics or a third-party analytics SDK. Personal data is not sold or used for targeted advertising.
Shared household information is visible to the household's authorized members. It is not a public profile or a public feed. Signing out, uninstalling the app or being removed from a household does not by itself delete the account or shared history.
Information WeGe processes
- Account and household: your email address, chosen display name, account and membership identifiers, household name, membership role, and invitation email addresses, tokens and expiry information. Sign-in codes and session credentials are processed to authenticate you.
- Chores and availability: chore names and optional symbols, selected participants and their order, recurrence and due dates, assignments, completion and correction history, and absence start/end dates. Absence reasons and locations are not requested.
- Shared expenses: descriptions, amounts in EUR, payment dates, selected payer and participants, equal shares, correction notes, balances and archived Kassensturz reports. These are records entered by household members. WeGe does not connect to bank accounts, collect card details or initiate payments.
- Optional reminders: the saved reminder preference, notification permission/authorization state, app installation identifiers, push delivery identifiers, platform, notification language, and delivery/test status needed to send and validate reminders.
- Technical and support information: requests to the backend and its providers can include IP addresses, timestamps, device/client information, authentication events and operational error or delivery logs. If you email the developer, your email address and the information you provide are used to handle the request.
Most information comes from you or your device. Other household members can enter information involving you, such as an invitation, assignment, covered chore or expense share. Do not put bank credentials, medical details or other unnecessary sensitive information in free-text fields.
Why information is used
Account, household, chore and financial records are used to provide the features you request, authenticate access, synchronize the household and preserve accurate shared history. Where the GDPR applies, the basis is providing the requested service (Article 6(1)(b)). Account and household membership information is necessary to use the shared service; reminders are optional.
Necessary access checks, abuse prevention, troubleshooting and limited retention to protect the accuracy of shared records rely on legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): operating a secure service and protecting household members' records and rights. Processing needed to meet a legal obligation relies on Article 6(1)(c). Where optional processing relies on consent, including notification permission where required, you can withdraw it without affecting prior lawful processing.
Chore rotation and equal expense splitting follow the household settings. WeGe does not use your data for advertising profiles, credit scoring or automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Who can see household information
Authorized household members can see the shared records needed to use WeGe, including member names, assignments, completion history, availability dates, expenses, balances and archives. Owners and admins have additional household-management controls. Historical reports may contain the names recorded when the report was created.
The developer and service providers may access data where necessary to operate, secure or support the service, respond to your request, or comply with law. Information may also be disclosed when legally required or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Household content is not made public by WeGe.
Service providers and processing locations
- Supabase: provides account authentication, the household database and backend functions. The current primary project database is hosted in Frankfurt, Germany. This does not mean that every support, infrastructure or operational process is confined to Germany. See Supabase's privacy policy and data residency information.
- Resend: delivers authentication emails through the configured email service. It processes the recipient address, authentication email content and delivery information. See Resend's privacy policy.
- Apple Push Notification service: delivers optional iOS reminders using a device push identifier, generic reminder text and technical message identifiers. See Apple's privacy information.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Firebase Installations: support optional Android reminders using installation/delivery identifiers and technical messages that can contain household, member, device and chore-occurrence identifiers. WeGe does not send expense descriptions, absence reasons or chore titles in these messages. Google Analytics and Firebase Analytics are not included. See Firebase's privacy information.
These providers operate internationally, so some processing can take place outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Their privacy and data-processing information describes applicable transfer arrangements, such as adequacy decisions and standard contractual clauses. Contact the developer for information about the safeguards applicable to your data.
Reminders and information on your device
Reminders can be turned off under Home in WeGe and in your device's notification settings. Absence suppresses chore reminders without changing your saved preference. Turning reminders off does not delete your account or household records.
The app stores sign-in credentials and limited preferences/notification authorization information on your device so that it can restore your session and handle notifications. Android session storage uses Android Keystore-backed encryption; iOS uses platform credential storage. Shared information is also held in memory while you use the app. Network requests to the app backend use HTTPS. This is not end-to-end encryption: the backend must process household records to provide the service.
How long information is kept
Account information is retained while needed to provide your account or handle a deletion request. Household records remain while needed for the household's shared history, recurring chores and financial archives. Leaving a household or changing a display name does not automatically erase earlier completions or archived reports.
Retention is assessed by the purpose of the record, whether the account or household still uses the service, the rights of other household members, outstanding support/security issues and any applicable legal obligation. Data that is no longer needed should be deleted or anonymized. Shared history is not a blanket exception to a valid erasure request.
Service-provider logs, delivery records and backups have separate retention cycles and may remain temporarily after deletion from active systems. Contact the developer for the retention details applicable to a particular record or request; immediate removal from every backup is not promised.
Request account and data deletion
To request deletion of your WeGe account and associated personal data, email ygtars@ygtars.com with the subject WeGe account and data deletion, preferably from the address used for your account. You can make this request without reinstalling the app.
Identify your account and say whether you are requesting account deletion or deletion of particular information. Never send a password or sign-in code. Ownership may need to be verified before a request is carried out.
The request covers the account, its profile and associated personal information, including reminder registration. If a shared record must be retained to protect another household member's rights or meet a legal obligation, the developer will explain the reason and scope of retention. Identifying information should be removed or minimized where it is no longer necessary.
Uninstalling, signing out, switching reminders off or asking an owner to remove your membership is not an account-deletion request. The current app does not yet provide a dedicated in-app account-deletion control.
Your privacy rights
Depending on applicable law, you can request access to your personal data, correction, erasure, restriction of processing or a portable copy. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. These rights can be subject to legal conditions and the rights of others.
Send requests to ygtars@ygtars.com. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority. In Germany, you can find the competent authority through the German data-protection authorities directory.
